You know I love dahlias. Hopefully you have some in your gardens. Hopefully you’ve read my August blog, Glorious Dahlias that talks about dahlia maintenance and also how to extend the robustness of cut dahlias.
I must share dahlias again because of our recent visit to Swan Island Dahlias. If you like dahlias like I do, you’ve heard of or visited Swan Island Dahlia Farms in Canby, Oregon. Every year they host a festival over 2 weekends near Labor Day. No festival this year, but the farm was open to visitors with social distancing and masks, to walk among the 50 acres of glorious dahlias in bloom. It’s wonderful walking amongst over 200 varieties of dahlias, happy seeing varieties already in your garden, noting ones you have, and of course, carrying a catalog and order sheet in case you find one you need in your own garden. I always do!
Br sure to check out www.dahlias.com to order your new tubers by March for a 15% discount! The sooner the better, to make sure they don’t run out of your favorite choices. Also check out garden gifts on this website for greeting cards with dahlias to spread cheer to your friends and family.
Here are some pictures my husband Don captured this year.
These are gorgeous!
I am so close to Canby….this will be on my
must do 💖
Miss you my friend ❤️
