As a friend or a follower, you know I love Great Dixter as my second garden home. Don and I visited there in late September 2023 and were treated to the usual Dixterhospitality and magic. One of the themes at Great Dixter is succession planting, involving special care to always have blooms whether it is late winter or late autumn. We visited other gardens in the area that focus on spring blooms and are beautiful then, but at Dixter the flowers in late September were nothing short of spectacular.
The head gardener at Great Dixter Fergus Garrett is not only leading a garden treasure, but he is also leading efforts there focused on biodiversity, sustainability, and education. There is a big emphasis on teaching the next generation of gardeners and head gardeners.
