Welcome to Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden

The Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden is a real gem and totally unexpected. It is a garden you would expect in a much larger city. It is located at the southern end of Ft. Bragg, California, just south of a round-about. The gardens are spectacular, and on the grounds there is a vegetable garden, an adventure trail for kids, and a walk to the beach, worthy of a picnic. You won’t get to the sand, but to the bluffs overlooking the rocky shoreline, and if you’re lucky, the wildflowers will be in bloom. In the garden itself there’s a heather collection, dahlia garden, conifer collection, a perennial garden, a succulent & Mediterranean garden, and the heritage rose garden. There’s a café, and of course, a nursery that fills up the back of my car on the way home. Two years ago we visited at Christmas time for their light display which is also a must-stop, especially for the kids.
